The 2nd Conference of Global Chinese Scholars on Hydrodynamics held in CSSRC
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of <Journal of Hydrodynamics >, and foster global Chinese scholars’ academic communications, the 2nd Conference of Global Chinese Scholars on Hydrodynamics was held in CSSRC from Nov. 11 to Nov. 14. The conference was co-hosted by Editorial Board of <Journal of Hydrodynamics>, China Society of Mechanics, China Society of Shipbuilding Engineers, China Society of Hydraulics and China Society of Oceanography. CSSRC and National Key Laboratory on Hydrodynamics undertook the conference. Academician Wu Yousheng and CSSRC Director He Chunrong delivered opening speeches, warmly welcoming over 250 experts, scholars and students to attend the conference.
Director He stated that <Journal of Hydrodynamics> has become an influential journal after 30 years’ development, bearing good academic reputation both at home and abroad. This conference was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its first publication. It is a great honor to hold this conference since this year happens to be CSSRC’s 65th anniversary. It may enhance CSSRC scholars’academic makings, promote communications between CSSRC and other relevant institutions.
The conference was held in five parallel sessions, covering the themes of hydrodynamics, sono-elastics, tsunami, oil drilling, environment, ships and offshore engineering, etc. Reports for keynote session were presented by academicians from Chinese Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Engineering, Russian Academy of Natural Science, secretary of IUTAM, and members of American Society of Civil Engineering. Theme reports for parallel sessions were presented by well-known scholars and young scholars. In total 128 reports were presented covering almost all fields of hydrodynamics and the intense exchanges of ideas among attendees highlighted hydrodynamics’ research and development.
During the three days, attendees also visited CSSRC’s laboratories and were deeply impressed by our scientific achievements and experimental capabilities.
