The deep-sea equipment test ship is designed by the China Ship Scientific Research Center as the chief engineer unit. It adopts the type of small water plane area twin hull (SWATH), with a full load displacement of 6,600 tons, a speed of more than 15 knots, an endurance of 10,000 nautical miles and a self-supporting capacity of 60 days. It is equipped with 7 large laboratories and a staffing up to 120 people.

The deep-sea equipment test ship adopts the most advanced design concept in the world and is independently developed by China. It has broken through many technical bottlenecks and is the largest SWATH built and launched in the world so far.

The deep-sea equipment test ship has outstanding test capability and far exceeds the international similar ships in performance. It is another masterpiece in the development history of SWATH by CSSRC after the successful development of "991 Test Ship" and "Experiment 1" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
