The First International Symposium on Ship Vibration & Noise (IWSVN) was successfully on 15-16th Oct, 2015 inChina Ship Scientific Research Center (CSSRC). This symposium was organized by National Key Laboratory on Ship Vibration & Noise (NKLSVN) with full supports from China Ship Scientific Research Center (CSSRC), China Ship Development and Design Center (CSDDC), Naval University of Engineering (NUE). It had attracted more than 60 domestic and foreign delegates to attend.

The IWSVN had received 25 academic papers, involving three ship noise source controls, numerical analysis and test measurement technology, and other research directions. Prof. R.A. Shenoi from SIMM, Prof. Herbert Bretschneider from HSVA, Prof. Vitalii. Yu. Chizhov from Krylov State Research Center , Prof. Shaker A. Meguid from University of Toronto, Prof. Elena Ciappi from INSEAN and Prof. Yu Mengsa from CSSRC had made a plenary session report. The symposium had also set up two break-out sessions, i.e. Numerical Acoustics and Experimental Acoustics, so relative experts can have discussions over there. After meeting, the delegates visited some laboratories of CSSRC and discussed some technical problems, and gave highly reviews to our scientific research facilities and abilities.

Through this academic exchange, the relevant scientific research personnel can have a comprehensive understanding regards to the development trend of ship vibration noise control technology and the latest progress achieved in this field by domestic and foreign counterparts. And it enhanced the communication and exchanges between the various units, which laid a good foundation for the follow-up technical cooperation and talent training.
