Through consistent efforts made by Ice Tank Construction and Ice-going Ships Development Project team, CSSRC’s first ice sheet was successfully made on July 4th in the Small Ice Tank.

The Small Ice Tank is invested and constructed solely by CSSRC, which holds fully independent intellectual property. The ice tank’s refrigeration, heat preservation and controls adopt the current up-to-date technologies, and their applications in the small tank are expected to guide the construction of large ice tank.

After previous half year’s basic construction and three months’ in-situ installation, the tank’s main equipment system was all set. Since June 26th to now, the project team conducted a week’s software and hardware joint debug, check and adjustment, as well as test making ice. All systems showed good performance as designed. The ice-making rate, minimum temperature, heat preservation capacity and power consumption as well as other specifications, met or even exceeded design expectations.

In the next step, the project team will spare no efforts to optimize the main system, equip testing facilities, and conduct researches on model ice making technology, ice tank experimental techniques, and ice-going ships technologies as scheduled. With these efforts, the new tank is expected to generate synthetic benefits as soon as possible, set solid technology foundations and provide supports for large ice tank’s construction and application.
