The 1st Participant Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of Joint Industry Project “Comparative Study on Springing Responses of 20000 TEU Containership ", hereinafter referred to as CSSRC - 20000 TEU was successfully held on 19th March in China Ship Scientific Research (CSSRC). The project is proposed to carry out the Benchmark hydroelastic model test and computational comparisons for 20000 TEU class containerships in the current shipping market, aiming to establish a reliable and accurate standard ship model test database, validate numerical calculation methods and software, and form the hydroelastic analysis standards and guidelines for predicting wave-induced springing and slam-induced whipping. The delegates from Lloyd's Register of Shipping, ClassNK, IRClass, KR, Chalmers University of Technology, CCS, SWS, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Engineering University, Dalian University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology attended the meeting.

Delegates also viewed the staged model test in the towing tank and the sea-keeping basin and exchanged views on specific technical issues on site. Experts affirmed the successful organization of this meeting, and hoped that the project could achieve success and the research results could benefit the shipping industry.

CSSRC-20,000 TEU is the first joint international industrial project involving standard ship models initiated by CSSRC and also China Shipping and Marine industry. It will certainly help to improve the independent research and development capability of China's shipping industry and to promote the close cooperation in the international shipping industry.
