Recently, CSSRC’s small ice tank has successfully completed a model test of the ice-breaking resistance of a typical icebreaker. The project team has carried out mechanism analysis and mathematical simulation for the bow ice-breaking operation of a typical icebreaker. On the basis of exploring the ice-making technology in small ice pool and solving the problem of preparing high-quality model ice, the physical model test has been carried out.
By precisely regulating the mechanical properties of model ice and scientifically configuring the testing system, the ice-breaking resistance values under different working conditions were obtained in the test, and the image data of ice-breaking process and physical phenomena were obtained. The results of ice-making and experimental technology development in the small ice pool were systematically tested.
The successful experience of this mechanical model test of icebreaker can effectively promote the construction of large ice pool and lays a technical foundation for the subsequent development of the design evaluation and application services of CSSRC’s polar ships and offshore engineering equipment.
